Aromatics refer to a family of organic compounds characterized by one or more conjugated ring systems with alternating double bonds. They include a wide range of compounds such as benzene and its derivatives. Some aromatic hydrocarbons found in crude oil include: benzene, toluene, ortho-xylene, meta-xylene, para-xylene, naphthalene, cumene, etc. The Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company is one of the largest producers of aromatic products in Iran and the world. Aromatics are used in the production of polyesters, synthetic fibers, dyes, resins, disposable bottles, detergents, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, industrial solvents, and more.
