PGPIC, Education Ministry Sign $300m Agreement to Boost Educational Equity

TEHRAN, August 20 (PGPIC) – Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) and Iran’s Ministry of Education signed a 15 trillion rials ($300 million) memorandum of understanding to support the national initiative on educational equity, with a focus on improving facilities and skills training in underprivileged regions.

Under the agreement, PGPIC will provide 5 trillion rials from CSR resources and 10 trillion rials under Article 20 of the Seventh Development Plan, while the Education Ministry will identify target areas, oversee technical and operational supervision, and ensure staffing and utilities for new schools and vocational centers.

Education Minister Alireza Kazemi hailed the deal as a transformative step in addressing long-standing inequalities, emphasizing that “education is the foundation of national development.” PGPIC CEO Mohammad Shariatmadari stressed the importance of aligning social responsibility with sustainable educational programs, adding that the petrochemical industry itself is built on generations nurtured by Iran’s education system.
