This achievement resolves previous technical failures, enhances production process stability, and significantly reduces operational costs.
According to the company’s public relations office, agitator gearboxes—considered one of the key pieces of equipment in the salt washing unit—had faced recurring issues in recent years, including severe vibrations, frequent gear failures, casing cracks, and oil leakage. These malfunctions not only imposed substantial repair costs but also caused production disruptions at various stages.
To address these challenges, Arvand’s engineering team, in collaboration with a domestic manufacturer and leveraging local technical know-how, carried out a complete redesign, engineering modifications, and manufacturing of the gearboxes. The project involved extensive laboratory analyses and dynamic evaluations, with advanced software tools such as KISSSOFT, ABAQUS, and MATLAB used for design and modeling.
The innovative initiative has extended the gearboxes’ lifespan to over 10–15 years, improved mechanical performance compared to the original models, and eliminated the fundamental problems previously encountered. Project experts confirmed that, in addition to greater durability, operational reliability has been considerably enhanced.
Arvand Petrochemical emphasized that this achievement goes beyond a repair initiative, representing a milestone in domestic engineering maturity in the design and reverse engineering of strategic equipment for the petrochemical sector. Solving root issues such as vibrations, gear failures, and oil leakage required a deep understanding of dynamic behavior in power transmission systems and the application of advanced analytical software—capabilities that were previously dependent on foreign companies.
This accomplishment not only reduces reliance on imported equipment and prevents capital outflow but also paves the way for advancing indigenous technology in other critical areas of the petrochemical industry. From an operational perspective, extended equipment life and reduced unplanned shutdowns translate into greater production stability, lower operational risks, and improved economic indicators for the complex.
