Rather than halting operations following restrictions on international procurement, Karun Petrochemical Company adopted a deliberate strategy centered on trusting domestic manufacturers and accepting calculated engineering risks to safeguard operational stability. Within this framework, a complex and highly specialized project to design and build critical heat exchangers was launched and has now been fully implemented across several operational units.
The design and manufacturing process was carried out based on comprehensive technical documentation and continuous supervision and inspection at all stages, from initial engineering to final performance testing. The project’s technical complexity was such that certain required tools were not available domestically and were, for the first time, designed and manufactured inside the country by local specialists.
Implemented under the highest safety standards, the successful operation of these exchangers in Units 240 and 340 now stands as a clear demonstration of domestic engineering capability, informed risk management, and Karun’s effective role in localizing strategic equipment for Iran’s petrochemical industry.
