Shariatmadari issued the message on the occasion of 29 December, designated as Iran’s National Petrochemical Industry Day, expressing hope that the occasion would prompt policymakers and decision-makers to give greater attention to the vast and underutilized capacities of the industry in addressing the country’s economic challenges.
In his message, Shariatmadari said the petrochemical industry represents a valuable national legacy built over six decades through the perseverance and foresight of successive generations of experts and industry leaders. He described the sector as one of the most brilliant and pride-inspiring chapters in Iran’s economic history.
He emphasized that the petrochemical industry today not only plays a critical role in sustaining the national economy amid sanctions and structural constraints, but also reflects the ingenuity, dedication and innovative spirit of Iranian specialists. He added that National Petrochemical Industry Day provides an opportunity to honor the often-unsung contributors to production and development while reassessing policy approaches toward the sector’s strategic importance.
Shariatmadari noted that PGPIC has pursued industrial modernization, structural reform and organizational transformation by leveraging innovation and the capabilities of its human capital. He also highlighted the group’s cooperation with academic institutions, research centers and knowledge-based companies to promote technology-driven development across the petrochemical value chain.
Referring to the group’s recent performance, he said PGPIC climbed six positions to rank 12th globally over the past year, driven by improved innovation indicators, value-chain development and enhanced management processes. He added that despite energy imbalances and external pressures, the group has addressed key challenges related to sustained production growth, feedstock supply, project financing and technological needs by relying on domestic capabilities.
Concluding his message, Shariatmadari described National Petrochemical Industry Day as a renewed commitment to long-term development and global competitiveness, extending his appreciation to employees and industry professionals and expressing optimism for a resilient and prosperous future for Iran’s petrochemical industry.
