According to the company’s public relations office, the BAC compressor of the Air Separation Unit (ASU), one of the most sensitive and essential pieces of process equipment in the unit, has been brought back into operation following a comprehensive overhaul and full localization. The successful startup was completed ahead of the major Petrochem event, and the compressor is now operating stably within the process.
The BAC compressor plays a central role in supplying process air to the ASU, where it is responsible for air intake, compression, and the continuous provision of feedstock required for the production of industrial gases such as oxygen and nitrogen. Any disruption in its performance could directly affect production stability and safety across downstream units.
Due to sanctions-related restrictions and the high foreign currency costs of importing spare parts, procuring critical components from international suppliers was not feasible. As a result, Persian Gulf Mobin Energy Company relied on the expertise of domestic specialists to carry out full reverse engineering, design, manufacturing, and replacement of key compressor components entirely within the country, in compliance with required technical standards.
This achievement has enabled the company to ensure reliable and continuous operation of the air separation unit, optimize maintenance and asset management practices, reduce dependence on foreign suppliers, and enhance the operational resilience of process units under external constraints.
Often described as the “heart of the ASU,” the BAC compressor plays a decisive role in safety, energy efficiency, and uninterrupted production of industrial gases. Its successful localization and commissioning secure the continued supply of essential utilities to industries across the region and underscore the capability of domestic engineering to overcome sanctions-related challenges
