The opening day of Iran Petrochem 2025 was held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, with the participation of Hossein Afshin, Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, members of PGPIC’s board of directors, and a wide range of domestic companies operating across the petrochemical value chain.
During a visit to the exhibition, Afshin described PGPIC as a key technology driver in Iran’s petrochemical sector, saying major holdings must take the lead in technological development to enable knowledge-based companies to operate effectively and sustainably within the industry.
He emphasized that large industrial holdings, due to their extensive networks, are uniquely positioned to act as technology leaders, noting that under a recently introduced framework, leading industries and holdings are being recognized as knowledge-based entities, with developers and technology firms integrated beneath them in a structured value chain.
Afshin added that this approach is reshaping the policy direction of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, moving away from isolated, parameter-based company support toward a connected, chain-oriented model in which firms become strategic partners within production networks rather than standalone suppliers.
PGPIC subsidiaries also maintained an active presence throughout the exhibition, providing detailed information on their products, services and operational capacities, a role that has facilitated business engagement and highlighted the group’s capabilities to domestic and international visitors.
The third Iran Petrochem Conference and Exhibition will continue through Jan. 9 at the Kish International Exhibition Center, hosting industry professionals, experts and stakeholders from across Iran’s petrochemical sector.
