Mohammad Shariatmadari, CEO of Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, issued a message commemorating National Firefighting and Safety Day, highlighting the sacrifices of firefighters who defended the Abadan refinery in the early days of the Iran-Iraq war and paying tribute to all who serve in this field under challenging conditions.

Shariatmadari extended his appreciation to the HSE and firefighting staff of PGPIC for their courage during the recent 12-day conflict, noting that their efforts in protecting vital facilities and national assets are a source of pride and inspiration for future generations.

He emphasized that the petrochemical industry, due to its complexity and exposure to flammable and toxic materials, requires special attention to occupational health, safety, and environmental management. "Proper HSE risk management and full implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) ensure employee health, prevent human and operational incidents, protect the environment, sustain production, and preserve the reputation of this strategic industry," he said.

Referring to past industrial incidents, Shariatmadari stressed that individual safety alone is insufficient and that only a comprehensive, scientific, and systematic approach can raise safety levels. He called for strengthening HSE culture, continuous training, enhancing employee awareness, and deploying skilled professionals across all organizational levels.

He also underlined the importance of civil defense and crisis management as integral to ensuring resilience and continuity of production in the face of threats and emergencies.

Concluding his message, Shariatmadari honored the memory of fallen firefighters and congratulated HSE professionals across PGPIC on this national day. He urged managers and employees to foster teamwork, responsibility, and continuous improvement in HSE performance to achieve world-class standards and secure a safe, sustainable future for Iran’s petrochemical sector.
