HOVEYZEH, August 30 (PGPIC)– Senior executives of Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) visited Hoveyzeh Gas Refinery to review its current production status and development projects, highlighting the site’s pivotal role in securing stable feedstock for downstream operations, especially Bandar Imam Petrochemical.

According to the refinery’s public relations office, Afshin Kiani, CEO of Hoveyzeh Gas Refinery, reported that since early August, the plant had received over 527,000 tons of feedstock from the Yadavaran and North Azadegan fields—equivalent to 23% of total plant capacity, 46% of Phase 1 nameplate, and 67% of planned intake. This output has produced 220,000 tons of ethane plus and 9,000 tons of pentane plus, achieving 71.7% of the production plan. Including 233,000 tons of methane, the refinery reached 79.4% of planned production relative to capacity.

Kiani noted that the refinery achieved record production of 56,000 tons in May 2024, despite disruptions during the 12-day conflict earlier this year. He also reported 83.2% completion of Phase II of the NGL 3200 project, with engineering 93% complete, procurement 91.7%, and construction 61.6%. Delays have been attributed to financial constraints and contractor payment issues.

Mahmoud Aminnejad, Deputy CEO for Development and Business at PGPIC, stressed that completing Hoveyzeh Gas Refinery represents “the shortest and safest path” to ensuring stable feedstock for Bandar Imam Petrochemical. He confirmed that financing for the project is being provided regularly and in coordination with Bandar Imam’s management. Aminnejad added that pipeline projects in Darquain and West Karoun, alongside gas compression facilities, will add 20,000 barrels per day to Bandar Imam’s feedstock.

He further highlighted the strategic importance of Hoveyzeh in flare gas recovery initiatives, noting that PGPIC has been a pioneer in cutting flaring since the Bidboland project in 2016. These efforts not only mitigate environmental impacts but also contribute to job creation and sustainable development in southwest Iran.

Concluding the visit, Taghi Sanei, Acting Deputy for Production and Supply Chain at PGPIC, emphasized the priority of mechanical completion of units with available feedstock to expedite production ramp-up. He called the refinery “one of Bandar Imam’s most strategic projects” and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to maximizing financial support to achieve its goals.
