The heavy polyethylene (HDPE) project of Gachsaran Polymer Industries has crossed a major milestone, nearing the halfway point of construction progress. According to the company’s public relations office, as of September 12, the project’s overall progress stood at 49.53%, while engineering work reached 87.45%.

The total investment so far has exceeded €19.3 million and 54 trillion rials, with additional financing of €15 million and 62 trillion rials planned to be injected into the project by the end of the year under the financing program coordinated with Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Holding.

In a notable achievement, the project has created jobs for more than 800 people, with 80% of the workforce drawn from Gachsaran county and 90% from the broader Kohkiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province. This high share of local employment is considered unprecedented in Iran’s petrochemical projects.

The HDPE project is expected to come online in the second half of 2026, once the financing and construction schedules are met. When completed, the plant will significantly contribute to Iran’s polyethylene production capacity and strengthen local economic development.
