Capacity Expansion and Production Stability Dominate Joint Meeting of Karun, Arvand, and PGPIC

According to the Karun Petrochemical Company’s Public Relations Office, the session was attended by the Vice President for Production of the PGPIC, the CEOs of Karun and Arvand Petrochemical Companies, the Group’s HSE Director, and a number of unit managers and department heads from Karun Petrochemical Company.

Opening the meeting, Afshin Kiani, CEO of Karun Petrochemical Company, acknowledged the effective regulatory role of the PGPIC and stated that enhanced coordination among complexes was one of the key outcomes of such engagements. He emphasized that Karun Petrochemical Company is committed to strengthening cross-complex interactions and optimizing internal processes to achieve stable, high-quality production and increased operating capacity.

Sanei, the Group’s Vice President for Production Oversight, Supply Chain, and Operational Excellence, highlighted the complexity of Karun’s production chain—from feedstock receipt to final product—and underscored the need for real-time monitoring and continuous collaboration with neighboring complexes. With the appointment of a new CEO at Karun Petrochemical Company, he expressed expectations for even stronger and more structured cooperation.

The discussion also emphasized the critical role of Arvand Petrochemical Company in supporting production continuity at Karun. According to explanations presented, Arvand’s reception of gaseous HCl from Karun not only helps sustain Karun’s operational stability but also enhances Arvand’s own production capacity.

Mohammadreza Karimi, CEO of Arvand Petrochemical Company, reaffirmed the company’s readiness to receive gaseous HCl from Karun and noted that, with the upcoming commissioning of the Hyco unit at Karun and the resulting increase in production capacity, Arvand will be fully prepared in the coming weeks to expand its hydrochloric acid intake.
