Bidboland Gas Refining Company Pioneers Localized Virtual Control Room Technology

BEHBAHAN, November 2 (PGPIC) – In a major step toward operational efficiency and digital transformation, Bidboland Gas Refining Company has successfully completed the design and development of Iran’s first fully localized “Virtual Control Room,” a milestone innovation that enhances safety, reduces training costs, and boosts refinery productivity.

According to the company’s public relations office, the project integrates two advanced systems — the Operator Training Simulator (OTS) and the Operation Support System (OSS) — both developed domestically. The Virtual Control Room provides a realistic and safe environment for process simulation and operator training, minimizing human error risks and reducing the need for costly on-site instruction.

Engineering teams modeled all refinery process units — including gas sweetening, dehydration, natural gas separation, utilities, and hydrodesulfurization (HDS) — with high accuracy and implemented them in a graphical interface replicating the real control room. Validation tests confirmed complete alignment between simulator outputs and actual refinery data.

Beyond substantial savings in training expenses, the system also allows process analysis and optimization in a controlled virtual environment.

This innovative project positions Bidboland Gas Refining Company as a national leader in digital transformation within the oil and gas sector, showcasing a successful model of indigenous technological development and industrial innovation in one of the Middle East’s largest gas refineries.
