According to the company’s public relations office, Engineer Jaberi, Production Manager of Processing Unit 1 at Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company, confirmed the successful overhaul of the NF3 gas separation unit. The HP flare, manufactured by a foreign supplier and in uninterrupted use since its commissioning, plays a vital role in ensuring process safety and environmental protection.

Jaberi emphasized that the repair and reinstallation were completed without purchasing new equipment, relying solely on the technical capabilities of the company’s internal workforce. He noted that if a new flare had been purchased, the NF3 unit would have faced a shutdown lasting several months. Instead, through the collaborative efforts of the Processing 1 maintenance team and the operations and support divisions, the flare was restored to full function.

He added that the successful repair of the HP flare not only secures production stability but also represents a valuable step toward enhancing environmental performance and reducing emissions at the complex.

Flares in petrochemical plants serve a dual purpose: they act as a critical safety system by safely burning excess gases to prevent explosions and equipment damage, and they contribute to improved environmental conditions by mitigating harmful emissions.
