According to the company’s public relations office, Hassan Abbasszadeh expressed satisfaction in visiting the country’s largest petrochemical complex with members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and highlighted the significant transformation underway at Bandar Imam.
He noted that Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company, as Iran’s largest petrochemical complex, is progressing with major development projects under the New Bandar Imam program. The plan includes the development of several new production units and the replacement of aging facilities with modern technologies due to their long operating history and the need for technological renewal.
Abbasszadeh underscored the complex’s strategic initiative to utilize flare gas for production, describing it as both an environmentally responsible measure and a critical step in enhancing the value chain and maximizing the use of national hydrocarbon resources. This initiative is being executed under the President’s directive and the Oil Minister’s focused oversight.
He stressed that flare-gas recovery is a core national mission for the petrochemical sector, explaining that gases once burned and wasted are now converted at Bandar Imam into valuable feedstock and products, positioning the complex as a key player in reducing energy loss across the country.
Pointing to the complex’s substantial investment in methane processing, he added that a significant portion of the recovered associated gas is injected directly into the national grid, playing an important role in reducing the country’s gas supply imbalance.
The remaining heavier gas components are processed and utilized within the complex itself, further demonstrating Bandar Imam Petrochemical’s pivotal and reliable contribution to resource optimization and mitigation of gas system imbalances.
Abbasszadeh also praised the company’s social-responsibility initiatives in Mahshahr and nationwide, expressing confidence that—through the efforts of its workforce—Bandar Imam will experience a major transformation in production volume, product quality, and technological advancement.
He concluded by expressing hope that relevant institutions will continue supporting the New Bandar Imam project, enabling it to emerge as a national model for production capacity, product quality, and technological development within Iran’s petrochemical industry.
