Arvand Petrochemical Company has successfully developed and installed high-purity nickel pumps for its caustic concentration units, eliminating dependence on Germany’s Friatec, which had long been the sole supplier of these strategic components.
According to the company’s public relations office, the pumps—essential to raising caustic soda concentration to 50% under high-temperature conditions—demand advanced resistance properties and precision casting technology in pure nickel. Despite the high technical challenges, Arvand engineers completed the design and production process within 10 months and commissioned the equipment in operating lines.
The localization of this technology not only delivers millions of dollars in foreign exchange savings but also reduces operational costs and significantly strengthens production security across Iran’s caustic soda sector.
Technical experts emphasized that the achievement sends a clear message: international sanctions can no longer obstruct Iran’s petrochemical progress.
This milestone carries dual importance—ending dependency on a single foreign supplier while ensuring sustainable security in the caustic production chain. It also signals to domestic industry and regional competitors that Iran is capable of manufacturing its most sophisticated strategic equipment in-house, accelerating technological independence and paving the way for full self-sufficiency in petrochemical operations.
