Senior Executives from PGPIC and Petrol Visit Polypropylene Project Launch at Arghavan Gostar Ilam

Ilam, July 29, 2025 — Top officials from the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) and Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Investment and Development Company (Petrol) visited the Arghavan Gostar Ilam site to oversee the final coordination meeting and feed-in operations for the startup of the polypropylene production unit.

According to Arghavan Gostar Ilam Petrochemical Company Public Relations Office, a high-level delegation from Persian Gulf Holding and Petrol visited the company site on July 27, 2025, to inspect the progress and oversee preparations for the startup and feed-in phase of the polypropylene production unit.

During the visit, Adel Nejad-Salim, Advisor to the CEO of Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC), stated that the Arghavan Gostar Ilam project has reached 99% physical progress, calling it one of the priority and strategic projects for the holding. He emphasized the company's commitment to employing young, skilled, and specialized local workforce, describing the project as both hope-inspiring and pivotal for the region.

“Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the Arghavan Gostar polypropylene unit will be one of the most profitable polymer production units in Iran,” he said. Nejad-Salim acknowledged past delays due to unforeseen challenges but affirmed that the new management team has brought the project back on track according to the revised schedule.

He further underlined the holding’s policy of supporting Ilam’s industrial base, stressing that both Ilam Petrochemical Complex and Arghavan Gostar Ilam will play crucial roles in the province’s economic development under the strategic guidance of PGPIC and Petrol.

Hamidreza Khalili, Petrol CEO confirmed that feed-in operations at the polypropylene unit began at the start of the current month, and startup procedures are being carried out according to the planned schedule, with all technical and safety standards in place.

He praised the spirit of cooperation at Arghavan Gostar and highlighted that the new unit would add 150,000 tons per year to the country’s polypropylene production capacity, with feedstock supplied from the nearby Ilam Petrochemical Complex.

In closing remarks, Ashkan Dashtizadeh, CEO of Arghavan Gostar Ilam Petrochemical, confirmed that the startup process is now underway, and the company is preparing to launch production at what will become the first polypropylene unit under PGPIC’s ownership.
