According to a report by Shahid Tondgouyan Petrochemical Company, the facility is equipped with advanced instruments, including a quantometer, optical microscope, metallography tools (for sample preparation and polishing), macro hardness testers, coating and thickness gauges, thermography, and ferrite testing devices. These additions are expected to significantly bolster the group's technical diagnostics and precision testing capacity.
Officials said the new laboratory would improve both the speed and accuracy of technical inspections, enabling root cause analyses for equipment failures and contributing to more efficient and reliable production processes.
The lab is also expected to expand its services to other subsidiaries of PGPIC once it receives ISO 17025 accreditation, an international standard for testing and calibration laboratories.
During a visit prior to the inauguration, Mahmoud Amin-Nejad, Vice President for Planning and Business Development at PGPIC, held talks with senior managers at Shahid Tondgouyan to review production status, equipment procurement, and feedstock supply. He emphasized the importance of stable, high-quality production and underscored the petrochemical sector’s strategic role in Iran’s economy.
Seyed Reza Ghasemi Shari, CEO of Shahid Tondgouyan Petrochemical, pointed to ongoing challenges due to international sanctions, saying uninterrupted access to feedstock and parts is crucial for the plant. As Iran’s sole producer of polyester chain products, the company faces growing pressure to maintain a steady supply of essential materials, he added.
