According to the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) Public Relations Office, the session was hosted by PGPIC and attended by key figures including Mohammad Shariatmadari (PGPIC CEO), Hassan Abbaszadeh (CEO of the National Petrochemical Company), Amir Hayat-Moghadam (MP for Mahshahr, Omidiyeh, and Hendijan), Ahmad Mahdavi Abhari (Secretary General of the Iranian Association of Petrochemical Employers), along with regional officials such as the Friday Prayer Leader and Governor of Mahshahr, and senior managers of the petrochemical companies operating in the region.

The Strategic Council approved a 50% increase in the CSR budgets of petrochemical companies active in the Mahshahr Special Economic Zone. The resolution will be implemented pending approval by the companies’ general assemblies. Additionally, it was mandated that companies allocate the remaining portions of their unused CSR budgets from the previous fiscal year.

PGPIC CEO emphasized the need to complete all previously defined CSR projects. He described the council's formation as a vital initiative for addressing longstanding local concerns: “A portion of the wealth generated by these companies must be systematically reinvested into the community to increase public satisfaction with the petrochemical industry’s presence in this economic zone,” Shariatmadari stated.

He further emphasized the current government's focus—under President Pezeshkian—on strengthening the educational system through infrastructure development and modernization of schools nationwide. Shariatmadari announced that PGPIC has already held multiple meetings with the Ministry of Education and is close to finalizing a formal cooperation agreement.

Importantly, infrastructure projects under the CSR framework will prioritize local contractors to ensure regional economic participation.

Shariatmadari also underscored the importance of reinforcing the council's role in shaping CSR expenditure policies: “All CSR initiatives must strictly align with the council’s approved policies. No parallel or unsanctioned projects should be undertaken outside the Strategic Council's decisions.”

In his remarks, Hassan Abbaszadeh, Deputy Oil Minister and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), acknowledged the dedication of petrochemical workers during the recent 12-day conflict in the region. He stressed the importance of responsiveness to local needs and called for continuity in CSR projects: “Social responsibility programs that have been launched must not be stalled. They must be finalized in alignment with government policy.”

This council session marks a renewed commitment to structured, high-impact CSR implementation by the Mahshahr petrochemical cluster, with a clear emphasis on educational development, local empowerment, and alignment with national priorities.
